About

I am an Assistant Professor in the National Institute of Education at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. I hold a PhD in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MA in Second Language Studies from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

My research focuses on language assessment and literacy development with young learners, with particular attention to transmodal meaning making, classroom interaction, and the role of affect and embodiment in learning and assessment. My work examines how assessment evidence is produced through multimodal interaction, material tools, and educational practices.

Before joining NIE, I worked as a language assessment researcher with WIDA at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and taught English and teacher education courses in the United States, Japan, and South Korea. My work has been published in journals including Applied Linguistics Review, Linguistics and Education, Multimodality & Society, and the International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism.
